Rehearsals for our production of 'The Wizard of Oz' are progressing well and showing great promise. The performances will be held in the Village Hall on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st March at 7.30 pm with a matinee on the Saturday at 2.00 pm. Unfortunately, two members of the original cast have had to withdraw, and the part of the Wicked Witch will now be ably filled by an old Wilstead Players' favourite, Gill Turnbull. It looks to be a wonderful show with lots of talent on stage.
The Box Office (14 Armstrong Close, 740782) will open for Patrons' priority booking on Tuesday 18th February and for the general public on Thursday 20th. The Committee has decided to keep ticket prices at £8.00 for adults and £4.00 for children, with a special Family Ticket (2 adults and 2 children) at £20.00. However, as all our costs are mounting this is likely to be the last time that ticket prices will be set at such a favourable level. Our last production, 'The Lady Vanishes', was a sell-out, so, if you don't want to miss out on this one, make a note of the Box Office dates and be sure to get your ticket orders in promptly.
Looking ahead to the autumn, we are planning an informal evening of comedy to be performed in the Village Hall from Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th September. There will be auditions on Wednesday 25th March at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall. So, if you are interested in whatever form for this type of show, come along to the Village Hall and, watch out for further details in due course.
Looking even further ahead, we are hoping to organise a celebratory production for the Players' 50th Anniversary in October 2021. Yes! It's been that long since The Wilstead Players were formed, and we put on 'Review '71' as our very first production. Something to celebrate!
I look forward to welcoming you to our future productions and perhaps, the auditions on the 25th March.
