Wilstead Players’ Newsletter
Many thanks to all those who supported us by coming along to our recent production last month. We hope it provided a diverting evening alternative to Eurovision on the Saturday night,
We were surprised that evening when Colin Calvert, the playwright of ‘Last Respects, appeared in the foyer unannounced, to buy tickets for the production. He apparently had seen the play performed many times and was pleased by the chuckles it elicited from the audience.
The second play was very much ‘an actor’s play’ and may have bemused some members of the audience who were unaware of the different theatrical styles that were satirised. Our thanks go particularly to Bill Smullen for directing this and taking on the huge main role, and also to Jez Knowles for directing ‘Last Respects’. It was good to welcome some new faces to the Wilstead stage.
We still have no definite news of dates for the autumn Murder Mystery Dinner Evening but are very optimistic that this will go ahead. So again….Watch this space!
It is with regret I have to inform you that it is intended to place an item on the Agenda of the Annual General Meeting, a resolution to formally dissolve Wilstead Players after fifty-three years. The Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, 26th June at 7.30 pm in the small hall of Wilstead Village Hall.
Even if Wilstead Players is dissolved, we still hope to put on the Murder Mystery Dinner Evening.
